Yesterday, we allowed our boys to decide the route we took to Niagara Falls . . . and our reward was the most amazing sunset over fields of green crops and windmills in Canada.
Maybe the sunset was just as beautiful in the US, but something about letting go of control, of acknowledging that someone else was in charge of the journey, made the sunset so much more enjoyable . . .
And there’s probably a lesson there for life, if we cared to generalize, about how much more awesome and surprisingly beautiful life can be if we let go of our illusion of control over our Life’s Journey — it’s destination and the specific route we take to get there — so that we can focus instead on simply appreciating all the beautiful moments that happen along the way.
